AprilAire 800 Steam Humidifier Install

Video

Transcript

okay we have a customer here with an
April err 800 steam humidifier as you
can see it’s installed into the supply
plenum right there and there’s of course
the trap that lets the excess water
drain into a pump along with the drain
hose from the unit it kind of flushes
itself cleans itself and whatnot through
that hose there and this copper line
here is designed to push steam out and
water gathers here in this pea trap and
sort of serves as an airlock to force
the steam the actual live steam into the
supply plenum and into the house to
humidify so these things are very simple
I’m gonna show you here exactly how easy
they come on here’s your control wires
you can hear it filling up and it’ll
fill and then it’ll steam and so all you
really do is use a relay to bring this
on when the heat comes on now the
problem with that is by the time the
heat calls and this starts to fill up
and build steam the heat source comes on
and make steam sometimes the heat cycle
will be over before it actually gets hot
and starts producing steam so you you
really need an interface that you know
that wires this thing to the furnace
board and and controls the fan and can
bring the fan on and humidify the house
when there is no call for heat now we’ve
changed out their system and we’ve
installed a 20 seer train I think it’s a
4 ton with the gas furnace and AC and
train accommodates us on the controls
and the board on on the ability to
operate this steam humidifier so we’re
going to hook it up and I’ll show you
just how easy that is okay here’s our
furnace
there’s our condensate pump the furnace
tied into it and their air conditioning
coil is tied into it so there comes a
low voltage wire there from the
humidifier and we’re going to bring it
over here and install it here’s our
filter use instead of the April airs and
honeywell’s and some of the some of the
bigger brand names we just found this
product here and it doesn’t look too bad
these last about a year at a time
especially with a pre-filter in the
house it’s a nice door on it it’s got a
good seal and we really like them
just snaps in there just like that would
leave here with two hands
anyway so let’s open this furnace up and
let’s look at the accomodations train
gives us install successors I’m gonna
find those and we’re going to take this
120 volt coil relay 903 for one a real
Universal part number and take this
relay and use the normally open
energized closed obviously and that’s
going to close those two wires together
and then we’re gonna activate it on the
control in the house and it’s as simple
as that
so I’ll get it hooked up and show it to
you okay so all we did was that this
relay the 903 for one relay which is
I’ve got a 120 volt coil to activate and
then we hooked the humidifier wires to
the normally open and energized closed
pins on the relay train gives us this
hot right here on this plug on the board
it even says hu m4 humidifier on if that
wire runs over to the power wire in
there but I just wanted to keep it all
in here so we cut that wire and
connected to it and then we got into the
neutral that also goes over there and we
clipped it and tied it to the
it’s neutral on the coil for the relay
so now whenever the control the
communicating control asked the board
for humidification it will it will
energize the humidification wire which
obviously energizes the normally-open
and turns them to closed and calls for
humidity now also on the communicating
control we will set up for when this
takes place during a no call for heat
will get fan at 50% for humidification
of the house even when there is no call
for heat that kind of compensates for
the short heat cycles in mild weather
but we still need to control the
humidity to the desired setting so we’ll
go into the control now and get it set
up and test it out make sure it works
okay we’re in a technician access area
of the control and you’re going to look
for accessories or the place to activate
accessories get this humidifier set up
to work during no call for heat which
will make it work during call for heat
or no call for heat should be should be
right here
humidifier installed yes
we’re gonna leave it on 50% I’m going to
select it as a sting type not worry
about frost control we met a fire with
active heat call humidify without active
heat call selecting that is what will
allow to control the humidity regardless
of call for heat so this should have us
set up
and then we should be able to actually
adjust the desired level humidity that
we want for the house back to our
let’s see yep okay so it’s active now
indoor humidity is 33% we’re going to
put the target at 45 and I guess they
could let you go okay they should have
it now we’re gonna go underneath because
we’re at 33 so we know we should be
calling for humidity now we’ll go check
and see if the lights on on humidifier
and we should be good to go okay so
we’re calling for heat in the house and
obviously I didn’t get under here quick
enough to see the the fill light on but
it’s probably already full cuz now it’s
gone to steam and I think this this
light is letting us see the LEDs are on
but they are so right now we have the on
light and we have the steam light
no matter what I do there goes a little
bit
so anyway I’m satisfied that this is
going to work now and this pipe will get
a little bit hot when it actually
reaches temperature so the heat source
is on and it’s actually creating steam
right now and it it should be
functioning correctly we did not take
the pump so before I leave I might go
get a bottle of water and we’ll this
plug out and pull the pump full and
watch it come on just to make sure that
it’s working correctly and I’m gonna
wait around a few minutes and see this
thing actually makes steam and then I
know it’s right but we should be set up
and ready to go thanks for watching

Aprilaire Steam Humidifiers

The Aprilaire Vaporizer for the Model 800 is your best humidifier choice. With its high-tech electronic components, this humidifier has a two-year warranty against malfunctioning. Its high heat setting assures you of a very effective moisture addition to your room. This machine has a long cord that makes it easy to set up and maneuver. When you have this model in your home, there will be no more need to worry about moist air around your bed or in your room because you will always have a cool, moist environment.

The Aprilaire Vaporizer for the Model 800 uses two high-performance ceramic electrodes which operate on a twelve-volt current. This is the heart of your Aprilaire vaporizer. To keep your unit running smoothly like new, begin each humidifier season with a fresh canister of water. This keeps the electrodes from wearing out and prevents water level build-up.

The other part of the vaporizer is its main controller, which is also called the humidifier control panel. The model you choose should have a built-in humidity meter to monitor the indoor humidity in your home. The control panel displays the current humidity level and the range that can be achieved. This unit operates on a high-speed fan motor. The fan will rotate the bowls periodically to circulate the heated water and remove the moisture that can accumulate in the air.

You must regularly empty the water container so it can be ready to replace when it is empty. An automatic digital humidifier control panel contains a drainage tube. This is closed over a drain that runs from the base unit through the ductwork to the evaporator. This drain needs to be emptied before the next humidifier season starts. If it isn’t drained, the humidifier will build up a layer of condensation inside the evaporator. This will affect the performance of the unit and could damage it.

When you buy an APRILaire steam humidifier, you get an extended warranty that covers replacement parts and labor for one year. There’s also a two-year warranty on the HVAC system that comes with it. The humidifier consists of an evaporator, condenser, valve, and pump.

The evaporator consists of four aluminum or stainless steel heat exchangers. The water is distributed through the four heat exchangers through the vaporizer control tube. The humidifiers use high-performance, low-profile, digitally controlled coolant media. High-performance humidifiers have a vapor transmission rate of up to nine hundred feet per minute and a humidity level range of forty degrees to eighty degrees. The Aprilaire steam humidifiers are equipped with a self-contained humidifier air filter that helps protect the radiator from moisture damage.

Pros of Aprilaire steam humidifier

  • Efficient and accurate: steam humidifiers are more efficient and accurate than evaporative humidifiers.
  • Optimal humidity: Aprilaire steam humidifiers maintain optimal humidity levels in the house, which reduces the incidence of respiratory infections and symptoms related to allergies and asthma by minimizing the formation of bacteria and viruses, fungi, and dust mites.
  • Large area coverage: Aprilaire steam humidifiers are designed to serve rooms of tremendous capacity, effectively raising the humidity level and maintaining it in rooms of up to 4200 sq. ft.
  • Low risk of mold: there is a very low risk of mold with a steam-based humidifier, as the moistened air is healthy.
  • Less maintenance: Aprilaire steam humidifiers do not require filters and do not need cleaning or scrubbing to maintain them.

Cons of Aprilaire steam humidifier

  • Costly: Aprilaire steam humidifiers can be expensive compared to other types of humidifiers.
  • Professional installation required: Aprilaire steam humidifiers must be professionally installed, which adds to the overall cost.
  • Limited installation options: Aprilaire steam humidifiers may require a lot of space and may not be suitable for all homes or existing HVAC systems.

In summary, Aprilaire steam humidifiers offer efficient and accurate humidity control, optimal humidity levels, large area coverage, low risk of mold, and less maintenance. However, they can be costly, require professional installation, and may not be suitable for all homes or existing HVAC systems.

Aprilaire Steam Humidifier Guide

Steam canister for Aprilaire steam humidifier

The Aprilaire is a high-end model steam humidifier. This is because they have many features and they are also very affordable. One of the things that makes this unit so great is the fact that it can fit into any corner. This means that you will be able to place this in your home whether you need it in your kitchen or you want to place it in the bathroom. It also has a good water filtration system and a large water tank which are good for those who need to use more than one unit.

The water that is dispensed through the steam canister evaporates quickly, which is what makes this such a quick method of getting moisture into the air. The dry steam canister is filled with water and once it hits the cool coils on the unit, the water will be released. The cool air will then go through the tiny air channels on the canister. There are usually some special channels that are designed to release a special kind of vapor, such as that which is found in a bubble bath.

The water from the canister is also dehumidified, which makes the humidifier effective in keeping people from becoming dehydrated. It is also a very good air cleaner because all of the bacteria and allergens that could be in the air will be taken out. If you would like to use the humidifier in your home, you do not have to go through the trouble of purchasing separate tanks for the water and steam. The tank that comes with the Aprilaire vaporizer simply fits in the corner. There is no need to go through any additional plumbing or worry about fitting the humidifier into an air-tight space. These are some of the reasons why the Aprilaire is such a good model a steam humidifier.

The Aprilaire 800 is a fantastic machine! Every winter, my family used to get sinus infections and colds, and I read that a whole-house humidifier could help. We haven’t been sick since we installed the Aprilaire 800. During the winter, the humidity in our house will hover about 12 percent (as measured by our Nest thermostat), but now it is regularly over 40 percent.

I did not install it myself, and I believe the majority of people would need to hire someone to do so. It is powered by 240V electricity.

  2. Bijou

This brand-new device has a faulty controller that reads RH levels 12 percent higher than they are. This means that it will never turn on because it believes the humidity level is already too high. For the same reason, manual mode does not work, and there is no way to calibrate it. When I run the humidifier in test mode, it seems to work, but only for a short time. According to other online reviews, the calibration question is a well-known concern that should have been addressed. If I find a suitable controller, I’ll update my review so that my costly humidifier doesn’t end up as wall art.

  3. Brad P.

It’s easy to set up. To prevent problems, simply pay attention to ductwork clearance and airflow requirements. I ended up only using the 10A (240V) setting because the tightness and windows, as well as the overall insulation level, were sufficient. I was able to reduce the airflow slightly as a result of this. On 240V, this thing pumps out moisture, so be careful. The house is a 3800 square foot brick Victorian built in 1905. Holding 20 percent RH at 5 degrees Fahrenheit, 30 percent at 25 degrees Fahrenheit, and 40 percent at 35 degrees Fahrenheit with ease. I didn’t use the controller that came with the game. Instead, I used my Lennox S30 with outdoor sensor.

I’ll see how much life the center gives me. Overall, the water quality is very fine. I believe the tap water has a conductivity of about 150 and a PH of 8.5.
