Homedics TotalComfort Deluxe Humidifier Overview

Video

Transcript

hey guys is reducing more back on the
review on a home product list the
HoMedics total comfort humidifier deluxe
and as always if you like the video
please the like button and subscribe the
channel it really helps me out so I can
do more of these videos without further
ado let’s keep on with the review a
little bit of backstory we purchased
this item because we had previously
purchased a cheaper equate brand from
Walmart and it leaked everywhere so that
was at 25 dollars so this is up in the
price pretty substantially we’re looking
at about 70 bucks here so this is a
higher priced item and once you see me
cutting out right there is a little pod
you put that into the reservoir and it
keeps it from getting all crusty and
full of stuff that shouldn’t be in there
from the like maybe if you have hard
water it helps dissipate with that see
more that later but um this item comes
with a whole lot of different options
it has a cool mist a warm mist it has
the option to use the internal sensor to
determine how much humidity there’s in
the room anywhere between 30 and 50
percent different settings for how much
water can put into the air what you’ll
notice from the box is this is in fact a
ultrasonic humidifier as opposed to AC
what amounts to an evaporator form it
room humidifier I know that the equate
when I reviewed a while ago that leak
really badly based it was nothing more
than a sponge that had a fan blowing
over it and that will put water in the
room not totally effective this puts a
lot more water out a lot more quickly so
you’ll feel a little bit quicker you’ll
see me just operating real fast here
making sure I don’t break the thing or
do anything stupid with it and I say
that but operations pretty simple you
just fill the reservoir put it back in
the way it fits make sure you got the
reservoir cap on there pretty tightly
and you press the button and it’s right
the on button is ready to go start
pumping out mist the main thing I would
take away from this is if you’re looking
for a warm mist like a steam it doesn’t
do that when you turn on the warm mist
it will get cool almost instantly from
the air the cold air in the background
it has five speed settings for light or
intensity settings like goes from one to
one to five then continuous I’m sorry
one one to five which is in five being
the one pumping out the most water and
it has various settings where the
internal sensor actually to detects
humidity in the air and limits it it
does actually function it’s not just for
show so if your air humidity registers
and
sensor at 35% and this would give it a
set at the humidifier will automatically
turn off which is kind of a nice feature
for my household because this currently
winter and we’re pumping the heater
really hard the air is pretty dry so we
just leave it on continuous when we have
one we’re going to sleep and stuff just
makes the room a little more comfortable
and what you’re seeing right there is a
little pod you just put that in the
reservoir and supposedly it keeps it
clean and there’s instructions on how to
get more of these as time goes on
they’re supposed to last for about a
month I’m not sure I’ll do that might
just be more meticulous in my cleaning
of it the cleaning instructions are in
there I’m not gonna go into that just
follow him closely use a q-tip I think
he calls for vinegar to kind of clean
things up maybe peroxide can remember
which one not super important for
initial review all right so now you see
me basically getting things set up
putting it in there important not to
over-tighten because you can strip
threads on because everything’s plastic
on this there’s no metal threading so
you do run the risk of stripping if you
try to tighten too much but once we get
it plugged in it’ll start pumping out
missed the again it’s a it’ll handle a
good-sized room it’s not gonna handle a
500 square foot room terribly
effectively but it’s gonna handle a
larger bedroom pretty well and it does
work in our bedroom was just about maybe
250 300 square feet at the top end I
think I’m probably overestimating there
but there you see the steam coming out
and again I shouldn’t say steam is
technically misted water because it’s
not the result of heat it’s a result of
ultrasonic vibrations I don’t quite
understand it but if you ever use an
essential oil diffuser it works the same
way now that being said you cannot use
essential oils in this don’t put them in
there it’ll screw it up and you’ll mess
up the reservoir you don’t want to do
that I’m just trying to get some kind of
backdrop to see the steam overall really
happy with it again the only real gripe
that I have so far is simply the fact
that it does not actually give a warm
mist and that was actually a complaint
I picked this with a Sam’s Club but the
HoMedics website has the same thing that
people complain it doesn’t make more
mist and their response is based of the
cold air in the room is gonna instantly
make that water cold I don’t know why
they even really offer it I could see
maybe if you were like in a small
enclosed bathroom that might change the
room of the the temperature of the room
but it’s gonna
quickly dissipate as far as temperature
goes I mean it does work it’s just I
think it’s a little bit of a gimmick so
if you’re doing it for the warm mist
exclusively don’t do that get a
different kind of humidifier one
actually uses heat to actually put pump
out warm steam essentially this is not
gonna really do that for you one thing
I’ll say is my biggest fear with these
things I’m leaking and this one does not
leak I was clumsy once and dribbled some
water out of it that was my fault I even
when you you’re gonna see me test this
bedroom in a minute you’ll see there’s a
tray of precaution or anything basically
a big plastic tray to catch any leaking
water it never leaked so overall I’m
pretty happy with it the 70 LR purchase
price a little high but it’s kind of
like you get what you pay for and on top
of that if you go the HoMedics website
you’ll find that if you leave a negative
review and what I’ve seen is they are
pretty responsive they actually respond
back their customers and try to fix
things including one person – I saw
comment saying it worked I put it up for
the win for the summer and then brought
it back out and it didn’t work and now I
don’t know what to do and they said call
this number reference this person and I
assume because there’s no adjustment
that they may or may not work with them
I’m guessing it there might have been a
shipping price involved but who knows
they’re least responsive which i think
is better than a lot of companies if you
tried to pull that with Walmart they’d
be like yes a year old and you should
just buy a new one
that is not the case here they at least
are somewhat responsive but overall I’m
really happy with the purchase it does
work it does make the room feel more
comfortable it does a little sensor that
actually measures how much is in there
does function properly and overall
pretty happy with it and here you’ll see
there’s just a little bit of water in
the base and that’s normal when you pull
out the water unless just dry it out
completely from overuse it will have
some water in the in the bottom and
there you see diver in the bedroom and
you see the little black tray of over
precaution because I don’t want it
leaking again we keep ours on continuous
flow for the most part because we’re
running the heat which basically dries
out any given room but still really
happy with it and it’s gone for several
days filling refilling opening the
reservoir closing it and it has not
leaked yet so I’m feeling pretty
confident in this one compared to the
one I reviewed previously so
we’re all pretty happy with it again if
you liked the video please hit the like
button hit the subscribe button I’ll put
a link to the actual listing on Sam’s
Club although they also have a website
have a great day

These humidifiers boast two-handle controls, a high-tech electronic moisture detector, and a high-power ceramic engine. The Homedics TotalComfort features an easy-to-read digital display that offers you options like Auto-Flush, Warm-up, and Timer. The humidifier also comes with a two-year warranty. This two-handle humidifier runs on batteries or AC and will boost your home’s overall humidity level by up to thirty percent.

On top of its high-powered ceramic engine and two high-performance wet/dry humidifiers, this product also comes with a unique carrying case. This case allows you to carry your Homedics TotalComfort anywhere, even in the depths of a large bag or backpack. The TotalComfort ultrasonic carrying case also comes with a soft carrying handle, allowing you to conveniently carry the humidifier while on the go. When it comes to cleaning the TotalComfort, there is truly nothing more you need to do. Simply remove the water tank, follow the instructions included in the manual, and pop the humidifier into the water tank for two minutes. Then simply remove the tank, rinse the humidifier with warm water, and dry the humidifier using a clean cloth. No extra work or time is required for TotalComfort to maintain hygienic standards. If any parts show signs of wear and tear, replacing them with new ones should be a quick and simple process.

As with any other ultrasonic humidifier, the Homedics TotalComfort can be operated with the option of a “buddy” unit. A friend’s body could be placed in the unit to generate even more moisture, making this a great way to fight off the common cold. The fact that TotalComfort comes with an audio cueing feature means you don’t have to strain to hear when the moisture levels are not where they should be. With this particular appliance, the airflow has a feedback loop, which means more pinpoint control over the humidity and temperature than many other models on the market today.

The Homedics TotalComfort ultrasonic humidifiers can be used in the home or office by placing them on high shelves or even on your bedside table. They are designed to be durable and long-lasting and come with a two-year limited warranty. This assures you that you are getting quality equipment. With an all-metal body, this unit is small enough to tuck away in a cupboard or closet. There is no need to lug around a large standing humidifier when using the TotalComfort.

Homedics TotalComfort Ultrasonic Humidifier Guide

Homedics TotalComfort ultrasonic humidifier filter

The Homedics TotalComfort Ultrasonic Humidifier is part of the Homedics product line of high-quality humidifiers. This model is especially well-suited for persons with a busy lifestyle because it has an automatic shut-off feature that allows you to turn it off after hours have gone by without having to manually switch it off. It comes with a water tank that holds a sufficient amount of water for normal use so you don’t have to refill it, unlike other ultrasonic humidifiers that have an empty water tank and therefore require you to keep refilling it as it gets low.

You get this model in a larger size than the usual models, even with its compact body. It has two hoses with adjustable nozzles, one hose is for the room water, and another to fill up the water tank with distilled or deionized water. When it’s turned on, it comes with a very pleasant whistling sound that is unlike any other humidifier out there. It also has an auto shut-off feature and manual inflation pump, so there is no need to worry about turning it on and off yourself.

This high-quality unit from Homedics is a good choice for people who love to drink distilled water but are afraid of doing so because of the bacteria that are often associated with distilled water. With the help of the humidifier, they can now drink their desired liquid without any worries. With a humidifier, you get your desired moisture at all times, every time.

When the light is turned on, the shades have a total rainbow hue to them!

I like how the “buttons” look like they’re on a touchscreen!

    – Until around the third time I used it, the product’s sound was ultrasonic quiet; now it’s “noisier.”
    – The foundation is difficult to clean.
    – The filter is terrible….
    – If you have hard water, minerals build up quickly in the base and are difficult to remove.

  2. Bert

My asthma has been terrible this winter, and I keep waking up with terrible headaches, my skin is dry even on a good day, and so on, so I tried this humidifier. I wanted a warm air one to see if there is a difference and, if so, how subtle it is. It certainly helps my asthma, nighttime breathing problems, skin, and I don’t wake up with headaches from cold, dry air – so it’s definitely worth it. I really don’t see much of a difference between the heated and normal functions.

The heat function works; it’s a very low heat, but it’s detectable when you touch the unit. There is no danger of burns or harm to your furniture as a result of this.

I was worried about water damage to my furniture, but there are no problems other than water when I refill the tank. The steam/mist is so good that the furniture, carpet, bedding, and so on aren’t even damp! That is most likely the most impressive aspect of this, and it is well worth the extra money over the cheaper units.
It uses a full tank of water every 16 hours Whether it’s on heat and full blast- even if you don’t run it on full blast, with heat, or constantly, a tank can easily last two nights.

Cleaning isn’t an issue yet, and I have crystal-clear water, so that won’t be a problem.

I’ve tried the essential oil pad, but it doesn’t seem to make much of a difference or last more than a few hours. It’s really subtle and not worth the effort. I’ll use the oil and pad refills I have, so I’m not going to buy any more.

My bedroom/bathroom area is approximately 500 square feet, and when this is going, it is clearly audible in the entire space.

I’m still very pleased with this device and glad I chose it over some cheaper alternatives. I hope it lasts a long time, and I believe it would help someone with asthma or who wants the benefit of running a humidifier in the winter or otherwise.

  3. Kelly

The scale is impressive, but it sounds like a really noisy percolating coffee maker. It’s difficult to sleep because of the noise. I’ve included a video to demonstrate how noisy the humidifier is. I also don’t see much of a difference in mist level when I change the stream size. I like the dual tanks and how large they are; they are very easy to fill.
