hi guys and welcome back to my channel
in today’s video I’m gonna share with
you a product review and demonstration
the Lavoie company contacted me and
asked me if I would like to review their
newest hybrid ultrasonic humidifier
which is the LV 550 HH I will link this
product in the description box down
below so you can check it out for
yourself
other than the unit itself the product
came with a remote control which also
included a battery inside it also came
with a one-year warranty card it also
came with these two extra essential oil
diffusion pads and I will show you how
those work as well and a detailed
instruction guide on how to use the
product and how to clean it so I’ve been
using this humidifier in my bedroom for
the last few days and I loved it my room
feels so fresh and airy when I’m using
it I even love the sleek modern design
and it blends in perfectly with my
current bedroom decor and seriously it’s
so quiet when I’m using it at night and
it’s really relaxing to look at as well
this is the humidity sensor on the cord
that measures the humidity in your room
so make sure you don’t get this portion
wet first you want to take off the dual
360 degree nozzle off of the top of the
water basin then you want to unlock the
water tank and take it off flip the tank
upside down and unscrew the water tank
cap
for best results use distilled water but
you can use regular tap water if you do
not have distilled water then you just
fill your tank up the tank will hold 1.4
gallons and you can use it continuously
for up to 36 hours before you need to
refill it again then you want to screw
back on the water tank cap and make sure
it’s secure then you want to lock the
tank back into place once everything is
secure you’ll want to put back on the
360 degree nozzle back on the top and
that’s pretty much it then you can turn
on the power button and start using the
product so now I’m going to test out the
remote and I’m going to turn it on and
off and it works great the thing I love
most about this humidifier is that you
can also diffuse your favorite essential
oils all you do is pull out the
cartridge on the back and drop a few
drops of the oil onto the little pad and
don’t worry these can be cleaned and
reused again and you also get two extra
ones then you just slide the cartridge
back into the machine and oh my god let
me tell you it smells amazing in here
this product disperses the essential
oils much better than the essential oil
diffuser I was using before and I really
really love this feature another awesome
feature that this humidifier has is the
automatic timer you can set this for up
to 12 continuous hours of use while
you’re sleeping and it will shut off
automatically also the humidifier will
turn off automatically once the water is
completely out so you don’t have to
worry about that the humidifier also has
five different misting levels that you
can adjust this humidifier covers up to
a 753 square foot room so here is the
mist level all the way at level five and
you can see it’s just
billowing out of the machine and now I’m
going to use the remote and dial it back
down to the lowest setting so you can
see the difference one of the most
important features about this humidifier
is that you can use it year-round let me
show you how to switch it over to the
warm setting you just hit this button
right here and wow it feels so warm I
can’t wait to use this setting in the
winter it also has a light that you can
turn on and off and it’s this beautiful
shade of blue so as you can see it’s a
very soothing blue light and it’s very
spa-like so yeah I definitely recommend
this humidifier if you’re looking to get
one for yourself once again thanks for
watching I hope you enjoyed this product
review and like I mentioned before the
product link will be in the description
box in case you would like to get more
information about it and I will see you
in the next video

Ultrasonic Humidifier Deals and Discounts

In our quest to create comfortable living environments, the ultrasonic humidifier emerges as a pivotal tool. But what exactly is it? An ultrasonic humidifier is a device designed to increase the moisture content in the air using ultrasonic vibrations. These vibrations break water down into a fine mist, which is then released into the air, elevating the ambient humidity. But this isn’t just a matter of personal comfort. Maintaining optimal humidity levels in indoor spaces is paramount, not just for our well-being but also for the longevity of our homes. When indoor air is too dry, it can lead to a myriad of issues, from respiratory discomfort and skin problems to the cracking and warping of wooden furniture. Conversely, overly moist air can breed mold and allergens. Striking the right balance is essential, and this is where the ultrasonic humidifier comes into play, ensuring our spaces are neither too dry nor too damp, but just right.

Working Mechanism of Ultrasonic Humidifiers

Ultrasonic humidifiers, as their name suggests, rely on ultrasonic vibrations to achieve their primary function. But how does this work? At the heart of these devices is a small metal plate or diaphragm that vibrates at an ultrasonic frequency—that is, a frequency beyond what our ears can detect. When water from the humidifier’s reservoir comes into contact with this rapidly vibrating plate, it’s broken down into minuscule droplets. These droplets are so tiny that they form a fine mist, which a fan within the humidifier then disperses into the room. The result? A gentle increase in the room’s humidity levels without any noticeable wetness or condensation.

The ingenuity of ultrasonic technology shines when compared to other humidifying methods:

  1. Efficiency: Ultrasonic humidifiers can produce a consistent mist without the need for heat, making them energy efficient.
  2. Quiet Operation: Due to the high-frequency vibrations, these devices operate almost silently, making them ideal for settings like bedrooms or study rooms where noise could be a distraction.
  3. Size and Portability: The lack of a heating element allows ultrasonic humidifiers to have a compact design, making them easily portable and suitable for various room sizes.
  4. Safety: Without the need for boiling water, as is common in steam vaporizers, there’s a reduced risk of burns or injuries.
  5. Fine Mist Production: The mist produced by ultrasonic humidifiers is exceptionally fine, allowing for quick absorption into the air without dampening surfaces around it.

While ultrasonic humidifiers offer these significant advantages, it’s essential to note that the best choice always depends on individual needs and specific scenarios. Some might prefer the warmth of a steam vaporizer in colder climates, while others might value the cool mist of an ultrasonic humidifier in more temperate settings.

Key Features to Consider

When investing in an ultrasonic humidifier, several crucial features can determine its efficiency, ease of use, and overall satisfaction. Let’s delve into these features to make an informed choice:

  1. Tank Capacity:
    • Why it matters: The tank size determines how much water the humidifier can hold, which in turn affects how long it can run before needing a refill.
    • Relation to Room Size: Larger rooms or spaces that are excessively dry may require humidifiers with larger tanks. Conversely, for a small bedroom or office, a compact humidifier with a smaller tank might be sufficient. It’s crucial to match the humidifier’s capacity with the room’s size and needs to ensure consistent humidity levels.
  2. Mist Settings:
    • Cool vs. Warm Mist: Some ultrasonic humidifiers offer both cool and warm mist options. While cool mist can be refreshing in warmer climates, a warm mist can provide added comfort during colder months.
    • Adjustable Output Levels: This feature allows users to control the amount of mist released, making it adaptable to varying humidity needs.
  3. Filter vs. Filterless:
    • Filter-equipped Humidifiers: These come with filters that trap minerals and impurities, preventing them from being dispersed into the air. They require regular filter replacements.
    • Filterless Humidifiers: They save the cost and hassle of changing filters. However, using distilled or demineralized water is often recommended to prevent the release of mineral deposits, known as “white dust,” into the air.
  4. Noise Levels:
    • Why it matters: For places like bedrooms, nurseries, or study rooms, a quieter humidifier ensures minimal disturbance. While ultrasonic humidifiers are generally quieter than other types, it’s still worth checking noise ratings, especially for nighttime use.
  5. Maintenance and Cleaning:
    • Ease of Cleaning: Regular cleaning is essential to prevent mold and bacterial growth. Opt for models that are easy to dismantle and clean.
    • Maintenance: Some units may have parts that need periodic replacement. Consider the availability and cost of these parts when making a choice.
  6. Additional Features:
    • Essential Oils Compatibility: Some humidifiers are designed to allow the addition of essential oils, turning them into diffusers and enhancing the ambiance.
    • Built-in Hygrometers: These measure the room’s current humidity level, allowing for automatic adjustments.
    • Automatic Shut-off: A safety feature that turns off the humidifier when the water level is low or the desired humidity level is reached.

While all these features add layers of convenience and functionality to ultrasonic humidifiers, it’s essential to prioritize based on personal needs and preferences. Whether it’s the size of the room, the local climate, or specific health concerns, understanding these features can help users find the perfect match for their humidifying needs.

Benefits of Using Ultrasonic Humidifiers

The growing popularity of ultrasonic humidifiers isn’t just about adding moisture to our living spaces; these devices offer a plethora of benefits that impact our health, home, and wallet. Here’s an in-depth look at the primary advantages:

Health Benefits

    • Respiratory Relief: Proper humidity can soothe the respiratory tract and alleviate symptoms related to colds, asthma, and allergies. Dry air can irritate the nose, throat, and bronchial tubes, but ultrasonic humidifiers help in moisturizing the respiratory system, making breathing easier and more comfortable.
    • Prevention of Dry Skin: Skin, our body’s largest organ, thrives in well-humidified conditions. Dry air can sap moisture from the skin leading to conditions like dryness, flakiness, and accelerated aging. An ultrasonic humidifier helps maintain skin hydration, promoting a supple and youthful appearance.
    • Potential Reduction of Virus Survival: Studies have shown that higher humidity levels can reduce the survival rates of certain viruses in the air and on surfaces. By maintaining optimal humidity levels, ultrasonic humidifiers might help in creating an environment less favorable to virus longevity.

Protection of Home Assets

    • Preventing Wood from Warping: Wood is hygroscopic, meaning it responds to ambient moisture. When the air is too dry, wooden furniture, floors, and fixtures can shrink or warp. Ultrasonic humidifiers help in maintaining consistent moisture levels, ensuring the longevity and aesthetics of wooden items in your home.
    • Maintaining Musical Instruments: Instruments, especially those made of wood like guitars, violins, and pianos, are sensitive to humidity fluctuations. Proper humidification is critical to maintain their tune, structural integrity, and overall lifespan.
    • Protecting Plants: Indoor plants thrive in well-humidified conditions. Many houseplants originate from tropical climates where humidity levels are higher than in typical homes. Using an ultrasonic humidifier can replicate these conditions, promoting plant health and growth.

Energy Efficiency

    • Lower Energy Consumption: Ultrasonic humidifiers use ultrasonic vibrations to create mist, a process that generally consumes less electricity than heating water, as is the case in steam-based humidifiers. Thus, in terms of energy consumption per unit of mist produced, ultrasonic humidifiers tend to be more efficient.
    • Economic Implications: Reduced energy consumption not only means a smaller carbon footprint but also translates to lower electricity bills. Over time, the savings can be significant, especially during seasons when continuous humidification is necessary.

The decision to use an ultrasonic humidifier is backed by a suite of benefits, encompassing health, home maintenance, and economic savings. While the immediate effect is the comfort of breathing easier, the long-term gains are just as compelling.

Potential Drawbacks and Considerations of Using Ultrasonic Humidifiers

While ultrasonic humidifiers bring a host of benefits to the table, like any tool or appliance, they come with their own set of potential drawbacks. Before making a purchase, it’s important to be aware of these considerations to ensure you’re making an informed choice:

  1. Mineral Build-up and White Dust Issues:
    • What’s the issue? Ultrasonic humidifiers can sometimes release minerals from tap water into the air, which then settles as white dust on surfaces around the room.
    • Implications: This dust can be a nuisance, requiring frequent cleaning. Moreover, inhaling these minerals might not be ideal for health, especially for those with respiratory concerns.
    • Solution: Using distilled or demineralized water can mitigate this problem. Some models also come equipped with demineralization cartridges.

    • Solution: Use a hygrometer to monitor room humidity levels. Many modern humidifiers also come with built-in hygrometers and automatic shut-off features when desired humidity levels are reached.
  3. Need for Distilled or Purified Water in Some Models:
    • What’s the issue? To prevent mineral release and extend the humidifier’s life, some models recommend or even require the use of distilled or purified water.
    • Implications: This can lead to additional costs over time and the inconvenience of purchasing or producing distilled water.
    • Solution: Consider models with built-in filters or demineralization processes, or weigh the long-term costs of distilled water against the benefits of the device.
  4. Long-term Maintenance Costs:
    • What’s the issue? Parts like filters, UV bulbs, or demineralization cartridges might need periodic replacement.
    • Implications: These recurring costs can add up over the life of the humidifier, making what might seem like an economical choice at first, a pricier proposition in the long run.
    • Solution: When choosing a humidifier, consider the availability and cost of replacement parts. Opt for models with longer-lasting components or those that require less frequent maintenance.

While ultrasonic humidifiers are lauded for their efficiency and health benefits, understanding potential drawbacks ensures users can maximize benefits while effectively managing any associated challenges.

Maintenance and Cleaning Tips for Ultrasonic Humidifiers

Maintaining and cleaning your ultrasonic humidifier is essential to ensure it operates efficiently and safely. Here’s a guide to help you keep your device in top condition:

Regular Cleaning Procedures

  • Frequency: Clean your humidifier at least once a week, or more often if you use it daily. If left uncleaned, the standing water can become a breeding ground for mold and bacteria.
  • Steps:
    1. Unplug and Disassemble: Always unplug the humidifier before cleaning. Remove the tank, filter, and any other removable parts.
    2. Tank Cleaning: Empty any remaining water. Fill the tank with a mix of water and white vinegar (in a 1:1 ratio) and let it sit for about 30 minutes. This helps in dissolving mineral deposits. Afterward, scrub the tank using a soft brush, rinse thoroughly, and let it air dry.
    3. Base Cleaning: Wipe the base with a cloth soaked in white vinegar to remove deposits. Ensure you rinse any parts that come in contact with the cleaning solution thoroughly before reassembling.
    4. Nozzle and Outer Surface: Clean using a damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive brushes, as they can damage the unit.

Tips for Ensuring Efficient Operation and Prolonged Device Lifespan

  • Regularly Change Filters: If your humidifier uses a filter, ensure you replace it according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • Check for Blockages: Ensure that there are no blockages in the nozzle or other outlets, as this can impact the mist output.
  • Storage: If you’re not using the humidifier for an extended period, clean it thoroughly, ensure all parts are dry, and store it in a dry place to prevent mold growth.

Recommendations for Types of Water to Use and Avoid

  • Best Choice – Distilled or Demineralized Water: These types of water have had most, if not all, of their minerals removed. Using them reduces the risk of mineral deposits in the humidifier and white dust in the room.
  • Filtered Water: If distilled water isn’t available, filtered water is the next best option. While it might still contain some minerals, it’s generally better than regular tap water.
  • Avoid Hard Tap Water: Hard water contains high mineral content, which can lead to mineral deposits in the humidifier and release of white dust. If you must use tap water, ensure you clean the humidifier more frequently.
  • Never Use Essential Oils Directly in the Water Tank: Unless the humidifier is designed for it. Oils can damage the humidifier’s components and decrease its lifespan.

Ultrasonic Humidifier Guide

What is the white dust I see around my ultrasonic humidifier?

The white dust is typically mineral residue from tap water that’s been released into the air during the ultrasonic process. Using distilled or demineralized water can help reduce or eliminate this issue.

Can I use essential oils in my ultrasonic humidifier?

Unless your humidifier is specifically designed for oil diffusion, it’s generally not recommended. Essential oils can damage the ultrasonic plate and other components, potentially reducing the device’s lifespan. If you wish to use essential oils, consider getting a separate diffuser or a humidifier designed for this dual purpose.

Why is there reduced mist output from my humidifier?

There could be several reasons. The water level might be too low, the ultrasonic plate or nozzle might be blocked with mineral deposits, or the filter (if present) might be clogged. Regular cleaning and maintenance can help address these issues.

Is the water in the humidifier tank safe if left unused for a few days?

It’s best to empty and refill the tank with fresh water if the humidifier hasn’t been used for several days. Standing water can become a breeding ground for mold and bacteria.

How often should I clean my ultrasonic humidifier?

It’s recommended to clean your humidifier at least once a week if used regularly. If you’re using tap water, consider cleaning more frequently to prevent mineral buildup.

Do ultrasonic humidifiers make a lot of noise?

Ultrasonic humidifiers are generally quieter than other types, like evaporative humidifiers. However, some models might produce a soft humming sound due to the ultrasonic vibrations. It’s usually quiet enough for most bedrooms and offices.

Can over-humidification be a problem?

Yes, over-humidifying a space can lead to mold growth, condensation on windows, and an increase in dust mites. It’s essential to monitor humidity levels and aim for a range between 30% to 50%.

Do I need to use a filter with my ultrasonic humidifier?

Not all ultrasonic humidifiers come with filters. However, those with filters can trap minerals and impurities, reducing white dust and potentially improving air quality. If your device has a filter, ensure you replace it as recommended by the manufacturer.

Product review grievances I heard that the humidifier produced white dust from the salts in the tap water, which settled on everything. To prevent this, I purchased a 4-liter water distiller, which has proven to be very effective so far. I’m teleworking, and charging and refilling the distiller and humidifier is part of my ritual. If you don’t mind bringing a gallon of water back and forth 2-3 times a day, which I don’t, it works well. My humidity increased from 26% to 45% thanks to the humidifier. In the winter, my guitars would dry out, break, and go out of tune. They are much happier now that there is an effective humidifier in the building. I used to wake up with a parched mouth and nasal passages, which the humidifier has strengthened but not completely removed. I’ll be pleased if it continues to perform as well as it has. So far, things are looking up. The distiller consumes 750 watts, while the humidifier consumes 50 watts. The distiller condenses the steam into water by passing a fan over coils, which also heats the house a little, so the electricity used to boil the water isn’t completely wasted.

  2. Meh

Surge security, slight surge that caused the lights to brighten for a few seconds. But I’m working on stuff that would be disastrous if the machine went down, so I appreciate it doing its job.

The lights, as everyone else has said, can be distracting. I have a glass desk, so you can tell it’s there at night. I’d advise to add a plastic shield the light if the consumer desired. A small clamp for cable control would also be a good addition.

  3. Bob

Simply put, this is an excellent humidifier! We got the black one because it doesn’t draw attention to itself. Scented oils are a wonderful addition! It has a capacity of 1 1/2 gallons and can run for a day or two depending on your settings, and it is extremely quiet! You’d never know it was going if the service light wasn’t on or if you couldn’t see the mist! I gave it high marks for cleaning and reliability, but I haven’t had it long enough to qualify those stars, though I believe they will last!
