Katie Golde: Hey, guys. it’s Katie from Mattress Clarity. Today, I’m reviewing Vicks Filter
Free Cool Mist Humidifier. You might be thinking, wait a second. I thought this was all about
mattresses. We’re really all about sleep at Mattress Clarity and humidifiers are a great
way to help you sleep better at night.
We’re going to go over why that is in a little bit, but the majority of this review is going
to be all about this humidifier. We’re going to go over all the components. I’ll show you
how to use it, and I’ll show you how to care for it. If you’re ready, let’s get started.
[music]
Katie: If you want to see a list of my favorite humidifiers, just google, “Mattress Clarity
best humidifiers.” It’ll be that first link that pops up. I want to know how many of you
guys already have a humidifier in your rooms so comment yes below if you have one or no
if you don’t. Maybe you’re new to the world of humidifiers and you want to check this
one out. Great idea.
I’m glad you’re here because we’re going to dive right in. This, again, is the Vicks Filter
Free Cool Mist Humidifier. Vicks is a well-known company. If you’ve ever were like a kid and
you ever had Vicks VapoRub rubbed on your chest when you had a cold, it’s the same brand.
They do Vick’s VapoRub, but they also do humidifiers. They have a ton of different kinds.
This is the Filter Free Cool Mist Humidifier. Those of you who are new to the world of humidifiers,
they work by adding moisture to the air. In the case of this one, bear with me because
it’s going to get a little bit science-y, but basically water’s released into a nebulizer.
That’s going to move at ultrasonic speed so super fast, and turns the water into mist.
You’ll turn this nozzle or this dial on, a green light will come on, and then 10 to 15
seconds later, a beautiful cloud of white cool mist will appear out here, and that’s
how it’s adding moisture. This machine is best for medium-sized rooms. Think 250- to
400-square feet. It’s got a 1.2 gallon tank that’s about 4.5 liters and should run for
about 30 to 33 hours. It’s not a huge machine.
It’s 12 inches long, 9.5 inches wide, and 8.5 inches in depth. It’s a pretty good size.
You want to put it on a flat, firm surface that’s water resistant so make sure you put
it on an appropriate spot. You could use a directional nozzle up here to dictate where
that mist is going to go.
It also has a cool little scent pad right here where you can add a vapor pad. Vicks
gives you one in the container for free, but you can also buy them separately if you want
to add that to your Cool Mist Humidifier, especially if you’ve got a cold and you want
to open up your airway even more. It does come in one size right now and at full price
that is $80.
Let’s go through each of these individual components and I’m going to show you how to
use it. Before I show you how to use it, let’s quickly talk about the different pieces and
components that it comes with. The first thing, if you start with the top, is this cool little
directional nozzle. This is removable so you basically can clean this separately.
This is what’s going to direct the mist to go in whatever direction you want to want
in your room. Then, the main tank, where the water’s going to go is this section right
here. They have a little handle back here that you can use to pick it up, which is really
nice. You can flip it over and this is where you’re going to see the tank cap. The tank
cap is right here and it twists. You untwist.
This is where you’re going to add that water. It is a cool mist water so you can use any
sort of cool water or distilled water that you want to use. Avoid using warm water. Once
you’re done filling it up, you will twist it closed. There’s a little lock indication
right here. Leave this to the side, and I’ll show you the base. This is the base of the
humidifier obviously.
It’s got a float right here, which helps direct the flow of water. The main features are going
to be the scent station right here where you put the scent pad. This is where you’re going
to operate everything. Again, you’re going to use it to twist it all the way to the fullest
to get it going, getting the most humidity in the air, the most coolness out of here.
Once it feels like it’s a saturated amount in your room, you’ll go ahead and adjust to
a lower setting. You will see a green light come on once it’s plugged in via this little
plug. We’ve talked about the components. Now it’s time to put it to good use.
The first thing you’re going to do is find a flat, firm, waterproof surface in your room
that’s about 6 to 12 inches away from the wall, away from any bedding or furniture.
Anything that you don’t want to have a little dose of extra humidity around. Be smart about
where to place this. I chose my nightstand right here. I feel like that’s a good spot
for me.
I put the whole thing on there, but it’s not plugged in at the moment. What you’re going
to do is grab the tank by the handle that I showed you, lift up, turn it over, and remove
the tank cap. That’s where you’re going to fill your water. Remember we use cool water
for this. Fill it up as much as you want.
If you’re going to use it all night, I would probably fill it all the way, and then screw
that cap back on as firmly as possible. Flip it back over and place it firmly in the base
of the humidifier. Then, you’re going to want to go ahead and plug it in. Now, you’re going
to turn it on.
What you’re going to do is you’re going to take the dial and it’s going to have a little
zero, where it is right now when it’s turned off. You’re going to flip it. You’re going
to hear a click and see a green light come on. Go all the way to the opposite end of
that dial where you see the little watermarks. The three little droplets. That’s going to
be the most humidity that you can get.
The maximum output at the moment. Go ahead and leave it at that until you feel like your
room is saturated enough, that it’s at a good humidity level. Overall, you want your room
to be at about 40 percent to 60 percent humidity. If you don’t have a humidity monitor in your
room as many of us don’t, you will have to eyeball that but just need to be at a comfortable
humidity level for you.
Once it’s at that saturated point, you can go ahead and dial it back a little. Let it
even out. You should have a really nice experience with it. If you’re congested or you want a
little extra of that Vicks mentholated smell for your lungs and your nose, go ahead and
add the Vapo pad.
They gave me a free one in my container, you can always purchase them separately, into
the little station, and close it, and you’re going to get that beautiful experience as
well. OK. You had a chance to see the Vicks Filter Free Cool Mist Humidifier in action.
You saw that beautiful cool mist coming out. What are the pros and cons of the machine?
I could say for sure the pros are that it is very effective, especially for medium-sized
rooms. It’s super easy to use. You saw me put it together. Simply unscrewing a tank
cap, pouring some water in, screwing it back, and then putting it right back in that base,
and using the dial to adjust how much humidity you want.
If you are in a smaller space, you’re worried that it’s going to be too much, you can just
let a little bit of cool mist out. You are fully in control. Likewise, up top, you’re
also in control of the direction that the mist comes out. I really like that option
as well, especially if you have areas that you wanted to steer clear from. Overall, very
easy to use.
It’ll work well in my room, in my kid’s room. It’s not super loud at all. Very quiet, and
will sit nicely on a nightstand and do its job. There are a few things I’m going to consider
as well. One of my big pet peeves is that although it has this green nightlight to let
you know that the machine is on, I hate seeing it at night.
That light is like sitting across the room from me or next to me on the night stand and
I’m not used to it and it’s distracting. I’m not a big fan of this night light. I’d have
to put a little tape over that. It also has a very intensive cleaning process. It’s something
we’re going to go over in the next section, but you have to descale and disinfect this
machine weekly.
While it doesn’t take that much effort in terms of physical labor, it is quite a process.
We’re going to go over that next. Last but not least, this is not the cheapest of all
cool mist humidifiers. Because there’s no filter and because it uses this ultrasonic
speed, it’s a little bit on the nicer end so around $80, which is just not in everyone’s
budget.
I want to take a quick second to talk to you guys about how using a humidifier could help
you sleep better. The thing that people may not know is that dry air in your bedroom is
not helpful. It’s going to cause a dry and scratchy throat. It’s not going to help any
nasal congestion or allergies that you may have. It may make you wake up uncomfortable
during the night.
If you think about it, a humidifier is going to add that extra moisture to the air. It’s
going to help break up that nasal congestion. It’s going to keep your throat from being
scratchy and it’s going to help you sleep longer.
If you got a CPAP machine, or you know someone who does, often they have little humidifiers
in that machine to help keep their airways moisturized and lubricated so they don’t wake
up uncomfortable as well. That’s a little fun fact for you. Just know that the added
humidity in the air is good for keeping your nasal passages, your airway open, and you
breathing and sleeping better.
You don’t want to overdo it. 40 percent to 60 percent humidity in your room is ideal.
If you’re going to use your humidifier consistently, Vicks wants you to descale it and disinfect
it weekly. Those are two different processes, but I want to make sure you know, first do
this by a sink and have a clean, damp rag handy, and of course, unplug your humidifier
first.
Don’t want to get electrocuted in the cleaning process. You’re going to need to descale your
humidifier if you’re using sink water or water that has minerals in it, because that can
build up on your humidifier over time. What you’re going to do is unscrew that cap, make
sure all the water is out of your humidifier, and then put a cup of distilled white vinegar
into the tank.
Screw the cap back on, place it on the base, and let the whole thing soak for 15 to 20
minutes. After the time period is up, take the base and the tank, separate them, remove
any of that distilled white vinegar, but use a damp cloth to rub the nebulizer area just
to remove any mineral deposits. Then, you can rinse the whole thing with water until
it no longer smells like vinegar.
Make sure you dry it thoroughly. All right. Let’s talk about disinfecting next. Disinfecting
your humidifier is very similar to descaling it. The whole process will sound familiar,
but you’re going to use a different cleaner.
For this, you’re going to want to grab rubber gloves because you need a teaspoon of bleach
and a gallon of water. That’s going to be your solution for cleaning. You’re going to
put that in a container and then set it aside. What you’re going to do is take all the extra
water out of the tank of your humidifier first. Unscrew that cap, pour the solution in as
much as you can, close it up, and place it on the base.
Same idea as before, you’re just letting it work its way through, disinfecting. Leave
it for 20 minutes. When it’s done, gently remove it. Be very careful. Put it in the
sink and then just remove that bleach water combo and rinse until you no longer smell
that bleach, and then dry gently. You will have descaled and disinfected your humidifier.
There you have it. That’s my review of the Vicks Filter Free Cool Mist Humidifier. At
Mattress Clarity, we are team humidifier. We love them. It helps you sleep better by
keeping your room moisturized and your airways and your passages, everything lubricated and
lovely so you are sleeping. We’re all about that.
This one in particular is a great fit for medium-sized rooms. Super easy to use. There’s
a little bit of an involved care process, but take good care of it and it’ll last you
a long time. It’s worth the price even though it’s a little bit higher because you don’t
have to deal with the filter.

review.

Vicks Air Humidifiers
The Vicks is a popular humidifier product that is highly recommended by some medical professionals. If you are thinking about purchasing a humidifier for your home you will want to review some of the reasons why you should consider purchasing one.
One of the most important reasons to purchase a Vicks Humidifier is because of the product’s ability to help you fight off several respiratory conditions. If you are suffering from respiratory conditions, you will want to be sure that you purchase one of these products.
If you are currently suffering from any one of the conditions that are caused by moisture in your home, you will want to consider purchasing a Vicks Humidifier. One of the most common problems that people who suffer from allergies and respiratory problems are experiencing is the build-up of moisture in the home. If you have ever noticed the water that is collecting around your home after a rain storm, you will know just how detrimental this is to your health. The water in the rain can be harmful to the people who live in the home and it can be extremely damaging to the people who are trying to breathe it in.
If you are not able to keep the humidity level in your home within the range of 30%, you will notice that your respiratory conditions become worse. If you have never experienced the symptoms of these conditions, you may be surprised at how quickly these symptoms begin to take hold. You will begin to feel that you have a cough, runny nose, and even difficulty breathing.
The reason why Vicks humidifiers are so popular is that they offer a simple way for you to eliminate the build-up of moisture in your home. The way that these devices work is that you place one of these units inside your home and it will start to pump a small amount of water into the air to keep the moisture level in the home below the desired level. The benefit of this method is that you will have more than one device in place so that you do not have to constantly turn on and off the water in the unit. You can also switch out the water in the unit to ensure that it is always filled with enough water.
Another reason to consider purchasing a Vicks humidifier is that it can help you to eliminate the buildup of excess moisture in your air and it can help to promote a healthier living environment in your home.
Vicks Mini Humidifier
Is it safe to use Vicks mini humidifiers in children’s rooms? If you have a lot of small children then it is probably a good idea to purchase and use a quality humidifier. The humidifier is designed to keep the room free from dust mites, airborne bacteria, and viruses. Using a humidifier can help remove these allergens without creating an airborne mist around your family.
Is it safe to use Vicks mini humidifier in a baby’s room? A Starry Night Humidifier works great in a baby’s room because it works much like the larger warm steam inhaler but instead uses the heat produced by the humidifier to produce a gentle blast of warm steam to help alleviate congestion symptoms. The Starry Night Humidifiers also work great for allergy symptoms and other respiratory issues. It is safe to use in bedrooms where sleeping infants are present. It is also recommended that you only use one (1) model in a baby’s room.
Is it safe to use Vicks mini humidifier in a camping situation? A Starry Night Humidifier will be great for use in a camping situation because it has a mini filter-free humidifier with a built-in heater. This allows you to take advantage of the built-in heating system to keep everyone hydrated while they are away from home sleeping. Just make sure to turn off the main heating system when you leave the campground. The warm humidifier will be just fine to use in the hot months of the year. However, it is not recommended to use the humidifier when temperatures reach over ninety degrees.
Vicks humidifiers are known for their ability to relieve coughs, colds, and sinus issues due to the added medicated vapor products in the steam they produce. Besides the added benefit of medicated vapor, Vicks humidifiers provide needed moisture for comfortable breathing.
Pros of Vicks humidifier
- Provides relief for coughs, colds, and sinus issues.
- The added medicated vapor products in the steam can help alleviate symptoms of respiratory illnesses.
- Can be beneficial for reducing snoring as increasing the amount of moisture in the air can reduce snoring.

Cons of Vicks humidifier
- If not maintained properly, Vicks humidifiers can be a breeding ground for bacteria and other microorganisms, leading to respiratory problems.
- Using Vicks humidifiers too often or too long may lead to over-humidification, which can cause problems such as mold growth, peeling wallpaper, and damage to wood furniture.
- Vicks humidifiers require regular cleaning to prevent the buildup of bacteria and other microorganisms.
In summary, Vicks humidifiers can provide relief for coughs, colds, and sinus issues, as well as help reduce snoring and make breathing more comfortable. However, proper maintenance is crucial to prevent the buildup of bacteria and other microorganisms, which can cause respiratory problems. Over-humidification is also a concern, which can cause problems such as mold growth and damage to furniture. Therefore, it is important to use Vicks humidifiers responsibly and regularly clean them to prevent any issues.
Vicks Air Humidifier Guide
If you are looking for a natural, effective way to keep your infant cool and comfortable then Vicks for Humidifier Infant may be a safe option for you. It contains the same powerful ingredients that are found in many of the brands of inhalers and vapor rubs that you will find on the market today. Although most brands do not list allergy warnings on their products, some do. So, it is a good idea to read the warning labels carefully before purchasing this product. If you have any questions about whether or not Vicks for Humidifier Infant is safe to use on children, you may want to consult your doctor or pediatrician. You and your child should be as educated as possible so that you can make the right decisions. If you suspect that an allergy may be causing the problems then it is important to treat those symptoms. If you suspect a sickness, it is important to treat that sickness. If you are not sure which symptoms your child may be experiencing, it is best to consult with the doctor to get a diagnosis and make sure that you are treating the right ailments.
Use this Vicks Vapo Vapor for Humidifier and Warm Mist vaporizer or humidifier to produce a cool, medicated mist for smoking or vaporizing pipes and cigarettes. Not recommended for use in smokers only, do not consume this product as a direct treatment for colds and coughs. Do not take oral medications containing hydrocodone with this liquid because it will make you light-headed. This is one of the best Vicks liquid brands for humidifiers and steam vaporizers. For maximum effect, allow the medication to vaporize for up to five minutes before being used. Do not use this product if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Use this vaporizer or warm mist humidifier for relieving cough and cold symptoms in children, babies, and senior citizens. Do not use this product if you are allergic to acetaminophen, aspirin, or any nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Do not take this product without diluting the liquid with water. If you need to relieve sinus symptoms, try the Vicks Vapo Vapor for Humidifier or Warm Mist Humidifier.
The first thing that you should do is think of the size of the unit and the space that it will need to fit in. You also need to take into consideration how often you plan on using the humidifier and for how long a period. If you have no plans for using the humidifier very often then you can save a little money by purchasing something that is not as powerful as you need it to be. You also need to find out what types of batteries are needed with your humidifier. Many times you can find special humidifier batteries that cost a little bit less than normal, but this is something that you need to make sure of before making a purchase. Another factor that you need to take into consideration before making a purchase is what kind of warranty is available. Many times when you buy a high-quality humidifier you will get a warranty. This warranty will cover any defects or breakage for a specific amount of time. When it comes to Vicks Tablets for humidifiers, this is a great warranty to look for, especially since you don’t own the humidifier that you will be using while it is under warranty.
But in actuality, there are some negative effects that Vicks oil can have on your health. It has been proven that when you use strong essential oils like Sandalwood and Chili Peppers as humidifiers in your home you can cause damage to your kidneys, liver, heart, and joints. Not just that, the Sandalwood oil can start to lose its properties and become ineffective. It’s basically like putting sand in your car. Sure it makes the ride comfortable, but if you keep driving with sand in the car it will get really bad and wear you out really quickly. The fact of the matter is that Vicks is not an appropriate ingredient to use with humidifiers. There are safer ingredients such as Nutmeg, Orange, and Geranium that work just as well. Why risk your health when you don’t have to?
Many parents are asking if there is a safe way to use Vicks for humidifier infants. This popular herbal ingredient is often used as an antihistamine and cough treatment but some people are wondering if it is safe to use on babies. There have been no studies that show that using it on children will cause them to develop allergies or other health conditions. It is also important to realize that many of the common drugs and medications that are administered to children can be toxic to them so you must consult with a doctor before giving your child any herbal remedy or any type of medication.
If you have ever been bothered by a pesky cold or cough, then you can use Vicks liquid for a cold and cough. This is an effective treatment for those who are affected by colds and coughs. It has been used for many years as a medicinal treatment for these conditions. Vaporizing this liquid will produce a vapor that can help you feel better immediately. Using this liquid for cold or coughing on a warm cloth will produce a cool mist that can be used for vaporizing pipes and cigarettes.
There are many different Vicks tablets for humidifiers out on the market today. This makes choosing a quality one extremely difficult since they all promise to perform in various ways. If you have never used a humidifier before then you might want to know a little bit more about these products before buying one so that you can make the best choice possible.
There is no doubt that Vicks is one of the most popular choices of essential oils to be used for humidifiers around the world. The question is, should it be? Well, what people do not seem to realize is that when you use such a powerful deodorizing agent in your home humidifier you may be causing yourself more harm than good. Some people just do not know what they are doing when they are buying essential oils to include in their humidifiers. They think they can use these and then go on to use them without any consequences.

That’s just what I was looking for! Simple to use, simple to fill, practically silent, and effectively humidifies my 8 x 12′ room even on the lowest level. I’ve been refilling it once a day and using Protec antibacterial devices with it. When I called the company with a question, I was greeted by a prompt and respectful, well-spoken individual who gladly answered my questions. We’re glad we chose this humidifier after a thorough search through ads for all the choices. My spouse and I have noticed that the room now feels warmer as a result of the preferred humidity level of 28-30%, and we are both sleeping better and without the nasal congestion that we previously experienced.
The only problem I have with the machine is that the color changing lights are very bright, and the red nearly dims the room until another bright light appears. I assumed it was one or two colors, but it shifts every few seconds and is around 5 colors, I believe. It’s so inconvenient that we have two humidifiers on the table in my kids’ space. The Vicks sweet dreams humidifier, which slowly rotates between three photographs, and the starry night humidifier, which actually produces humidity. We have picky kids as well, but I couldn’t sleep with a nightclub light changing colors all night, particularly when it goes dark and then bright.
LIGHT: Extremely soft. It doesn’t keep me up at night, which is something I’m prone to doing.
MOISTURE OUTPUT: Excellent. After running it on high all night, the windows were drenched.
NOISE: Very little, very quiet bubbling. Sound is represented by video.
I bought this one after reading about how warm humidifying methods are superior to cold, ultrasonic, and other methods because they do not distribute bacteria and water minerals into the air. For the first night, I shut my bedroom door and turned it up to maximum volume, assuming the effects would be marginal. As I awoke in the morning, the windows were so fogged up with moisture that I couldn’t see outside. It really works! I’m going to get a second one for the living room.
