I live in Central Oregon at an elevation of 3100 feet. It is classified as high dessert. The juniper tree is the primary fauna. And it’s extremely dry. My house maintains a constant humidity level of 31%. My wife runs across the carpet in the middle of the night and wakes me up. Her shoes are crusted to the point of catching on the rug. At Bed Bath and Beyond, I noticed 5 humidifiers on show. They drew my attention due to the fine spray mist they were emitting. I thought it was pretty interesting. I came home and did a full day of testing. As a result, I decided on this model. Place it in the bedroom on a 20-inch-high unused piano bench. Set the machine towards the back of the table, leaving 10 inches of bench under the unit’s front to capture any drips. I went to bed after setting the machine to cold – high. When I awoke in the middle of the night, the carpet was slightly damp. However, there was no damp on the piano seat. The following night, place a large towel underneath and in front of the machine. The towel was definitely damp the next morning. This could not be tolerated. The unit was relocated just outside the bedroom on a 36″ high breakfront opposite the dual bedroom doors. There is a tile floor under the breakfront that stretches all the way to the bedroom carpet -6′ of tile. Turned the device to medium (the middle of the humidity dial) and set it to cold. The carpet 6′ away from the unit is not wet. There was no dampness on the tile floor either. I’m not sure why my wife and I both thought the carpet was damp at first. The aim of this lengthy review is simply to warn you about our perceived dampness and the dimensions I believe are needed to protect expensive carpet from harm.

I bought this to use in my living room and am very pleased with how quiet it is. I can’t hear the machine because it’s about five feet away from the seating room, and I’m watching television. It’s extremely simple to use, and the remote is extremely convenient because it removes the need to bend over to turn on or adjust the functions. The monitor is also excellent, as it shows the room temperature as well as the percentage of humidity in the room. I use tap water because the water supply is very clean here, and I will update my review if necessary after the first cleaning. The distinction between Warm mist and Anion settings is not evident in the instructions that came with the humidifier. Warm mist is the first setting, and Anion is the second. According to the instructions, the “anion/plasma function” will begin with the second touch of the button, and the “plasma generator” is operational. It doesn’t say much about what that means. I’m assuming the mist is at a higher temperature. That, or it’s producing plasma, which might interrupt the time/space continuum. In any case, it’s a potential win-win situation. Overall, it’s an excellent humidifier for a small home. (1100 square feet).
In general, I’m very pleased with this humidifier; it produces a lot of mist and looks very cool. However, the hygrometer simply does not work, which means that the automatic settings (to switch itself off at a certain H level) are also ineffective. Even after running on high for hours, the hygrometer on my device consistently shows a humidity of about 40% plus or minus 5%. However, if I place a separate hygrometer next to the unit and keep it there for an extended period of time, it becomes apparent that the one built into the unit simply does not work. See the attached picture, which shows a 20% difference between the two.
I contacted the company at the address given in the instructions to see if my device was partially defective; I have received no response. If I hear back from them and they help me with the issue, I will revise my analysis.
