The Central City Community Health Center is a full service, nonprofit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive, coordinated community health care for all ages in the Central City. A sister facility to the already successful HIV/AIDS Prevention Program, the community health center features a one-stop, integrated comprehensive HIV and sexually transmitted disease care program. With a staff of fully trained professionals, the center offers a comprehensive range of primary healthcare services including annual STD testing and immunizations; testing for Chlamydia and gonorrhea; treatment for HIV, Hepatitis, and syphilis; and counseling and referral services for a wide variety of other health issues. In addition, the community health center collaborates with local providers to offer medical and other support services to individuals outside the primary care setting.
The HIV/AIDS Prevention Program at the community health center features an award-winning, comprehensive curriculum that is designed to inform and train the public about sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV and AIDS. The Center also partners with various organizations to conduct community events and activities, including free or low-cost seminars and free cookouts. The HIV/AIDS Prevention Program is funded through a grant from the AIDS Task Force. Through the grant money, the Central City Community Health Center has been able to expand its primary care resources and address other important issues, such as expanding its emergency services, enhancing its primary healthcare education programs, and conducting a twenty-four-hour hotline service for those in crisis. In addition, the AIDS Prevention Center has expanded its patient enrollment, expanding the scope of care and decreasing patient wait times. The AIDS Prevention Program coordinates care with other local and national groups and provides a network of referrals for other disease prevention resources.
The Central City Community Health Center offers a number of other basic health services as well, including primary care and specialty care, drug and alcohol abuse treatment, dental care, family support services, and mental health services. A child care program also serves children who are birth oracentons, or who are young at age. Early childhood developmental services, immunizations, and immunization appointments are provided by the community health center. Preventive services are provided as well, such as immunizations for children who have not received them previously, and information on preventing health problems such as asthma, diabetes, and obesity. The Central City Community Health Center strives to provide quality services and ensure that every individual living in the Central City area is able to achieve optimum health.
