These patients are often uninsured or underinsured, and have limited or no access to insurance. Regardless of their ability to pay, they are able to get the care they need. HOPE Clinic Houston was founded by the Asian American Health Coalition in 2002. As a volunteer-run nonprofit clinic, it provided culturally-appropriate medical care to the Asian community in the city. It was established in the Alief neighborhood and served Vietnamese evacuees from Louisiana. Today, the HOPE Clinic is a full-time FQHC with clinic locations throughout the city. The organization’s mission remains the same – to provide health care services to those in need, regardless of their ability to pay.
