Legacy Community Health
If you’re looking for a nonprofit health care organization in the Greater Houston area, Legacy Community Health Houston may be the place for you. This organization provides quality healthcare to a diverse population of Texans. A team of physicians, nurses, optometrists, psychologists, and other professionals treats patients of all ages and needs. The center’s goal is to ensure that every Texan has access to the best possible health care.
In April 2010, Legacy Community Health Houston was awarded full FQHC status. It’s the largest community health center in the region, providing primary care to the uninsured and underinsured. In 2013, the organization engaged consultants to evaluate the feasibility of building a new clinic, and began a quiet phase of a $15 million capital campaign. In the meantime, it brought in a mobile clinic unit to help patients. Since then, the health center has expanded its services and continues to serve Texans of all ages.
Legacy Community Health is Houston’s largest non-profit community health center. The organization’s mission is to provide comprehensive care to the people of the region. It operates 30 clinics throughout Southeast Texas. Its services include primary care for adults, pediatrics, OB/GYN care, maternity care, behavioral health, HIV/AIDS care, dental/vision care, and more. While Legacy is one of the largest community health centers in the city, it is not without its challenges. However, it is always working to improve the quality of service that it provides to the people of Southeast Texas.
