San Francisco Community Clinic Consortium

San Francisco Community Clinic is a non-profit organization providing primary care, community health education, and preventive care to residents in the San Francisco area. There are locations in Emeryville, Oakland, San Francisco and Emeryville. The Consortium is part of the San Francisco Bay Area Health System, which provides comprehensive healthcare services to residents of the nine counties of San Francisco County as well as to people living in the surrounding areas. The San Francisco Community Clinic Consortium was established by the San Francisco County Supervisors Scott Kitzhaber and David Grosso in 1997. It is funded through a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, with additional contributions from individual San Francisco residents.

The primary service provided by the San Francisco Community Clinic is its immunization program. It has an Immunization Program Office located in the SOMA Civic Center on the second floor of the Science Museum of Natural History. This office is open every day and offers immunization clinics and walk-in appointments at all times of the day on most days excepting those specified in the Immunization Program Office’s schedule. The office also provides hands-on assistance to adults and children who need information about immunizations or who have questions about their current routine or who would like more information. Clinic staff members are available to address these issues twenty-four hours a day.

The San Francisco Community Clinic is a member of the San Francisco Health Care District, which is one of many independent, nonprofit organizations throughout the county that provide high quality health care to all residents. All health care professionals at the San Francisco Community Clinic follow recognized sanitary health practices, and all employees are required to wear approved sterilized gloves when dealing with patients. The San Francisco Health Care District holds periodic inspections of its various facilities to ensure that they are operating properly and meeting sanitary standards. These inspections are conducted by the San Francisco Health Department, the San Mateo County Health Department, and the San Francisco County Office of Supervision. San Francisco Community Clinic also partners with other San Francisco health care providers to provide low cost or free of charge health care to people with no insurance or who otherwise may not qualify for Medicaid or Medicare.
