The Shifa Community Clinic is a local health centre in south Tel Aviv area. The Shifa Community Clinic provides for the whole family, with an on site nursery and a pediatrician’s office. It is also known as a centre for handicapped and physically challenged people to avail of medical treatment and also help and support for these special groups. With this, the Shifa Community Clinic tries to make the lives of these special people a little bit easier by providing them with a comfortable environment where they can relax and recover from the emotional and physical stressors of everyday life. The main aim and objectives of the clinic are to promote self-sufficiency, education, employment and independent living.
The Shifa Community Clinic offers different types of care for all kinds of people. There are pediatric, family, general adult and children’s wing. A child-care centre is also available for children who are too young to go to school. This centre is for the primary and lower elementary school students. A very special care facility for handicapped and visually challenged kids is also available in the Shifa clinic. Special programs like photo voltaic therapy and UV light therapy are also provided here, along with hearing aids and other equipment.
The Shifa Community Clinic also plans on starting a dialysis centre for the residents of Shifa. Dialysis is a medical procedure that provides life support to patients with certain kinds of diseases and also controls or monitors their electrolytes and the kidney’s functioning. Dialysis can be a costly procedure and so the Shifa community wishes to make this facility easily accessible and affordable to all.
