Music for the Soul is an outreach project that connects isolated patients with the outside world. Professional musicians from the New York City area perform selected songs for patients. This program featured 45 free performances and virtual performances. The program will return in spring 2020. AFM Local 802 has started a new program at 11 vaccination sites in NYC called Music Heals. In addition to offering fair wages, the program offers benefits and other forms of compensation for musicians.

In addition to offering paid employment to musicians, Music for the Soul connects patients with the outside world. The program features professional NYC musicians performing selected songs for patients. The project was successful, and featured 45 free daily performances. This program is expected to return in the spring of 2020. Another program, called “Music Heals,” puts musicians in 11 NYC vaccination sites and pays them a fair wage and benefits. This program is designed to help people who are recovering from an illness or traumatic experience reconnect with the outside world.
