The University community health center provides services for students, faculty and staff who need help managing their health. The health center offers several different programs for its patients. It is a 24-hour health clinic that caters to the needs of uninsured and under-insured individuals. This clinic is one of the few colleges in the entire United States that offers this type of program. Many students attend the University to receive education and to become better educated.
Community health clinics are also a part of the University’s social justice initiatives. These centers work closely with local organizations to provide low-income and minority individuals with necessary health care services. The social justice initiative was created in response to the epidemic of AIDS and HIV/AIDS.
One can go to the University’s Student Health Center, even when he or she has an appointment to have his or her teeth cleaned or to get a dental x-ray. The student health office staff will be happy to answer any questions about health and wellness. Students may also call the center if they need information about obtaining a health card or health insurance card. The phone number is always available on the student health website.
