I was surprised to find a mattress with inner springs in such a tiny box. Before I opened it, I read the instructions, which were straightforward and plain. It simply says to “admire its resemblance to a tightly rolled taquito.” They’re not joking. The mattress was rolled to a diameter of around 1 foot. The mattress was immediately ready to use after the simple process of removing the two layers of packaging with the supplied method. There is no waiting period, as there would be with a memory foam mattress.
In terms of comfort, I can’t believe how comfortable this mattress is. It strikes the right balance between firmness from the inner springs and softness from the memory foam on top. I’m looking forward to several restful nights on this mattress.
The mattress comes in a package. I rolled out the mattress and waited for it to fully unfold. A pillow was also rolled up with the mattress. Before putting on the mattress cover and officially using the mattress, I waited two days for the fresh mattress scent to dissipate. I couldn’t wait any longer and slept on the mattress without any covers the first night. I was completely taken aback and shocked. I snored like a log! This mattress is fantastic! The product’s consistency appears to be excellent, and I see no issues. I did notice small amounts of filling squeezing out between some seams in the [bamboo] mattress pad, but it does not appear to be a manufacturing problem. The filling seems to be extra that got caught up in the stitching as it was being made, in my opinion. I’m not concerned about it being a recurring problem because all seams and stitching seem to be intact and well finished.
The only thing I’m not sure about right now is the mattress topper. I’ve always been afraid to sleep on memory foam because it makes me hot and I don’t like the feeling of being sucked in and “stuck.” My husband and I have been sleeping on it for about a week now, and the longer I sleep on it, the better and more comfortable it becomes. I haven’t had the sensation of being “sucked in,” which I believe is mitigated by the bamboo mattress pad. It is undeniably cozy, and I have no trouble fitting our sheets over it. In reality, I think our sheets match better with it, but I despise loose-fitting flat sheets in general, so that may just be a personal preference.
My only concern with this package is overheating, but we’ve had that problem before, and it doesn’t seem to happen when I sleep alone in the bed. I would admit that we are not overheating any more than we were before. My husband, on the other hand, is a hot sleeper and still seems to have a higher body temperature than I do. Often (and I apologize for the TMI), I have hot flashes and night sweats, so the overheating is certainly correlated; I just don’t know how much is due to the mattress topper and how much is due to our own bodies. As I previously said, the more I sleep on it, the more relaxed it becomes, and I am exploring other options to ease the night sweats, so we’ll see.
