for about five years
this is the irt for five to zero
unfortunately it’s been bounced around a
lot used a lot and the button just there
has now failed but we were such a fan of
the unit we thought we’d get the new
braun thermos and seven so let’s start
off by looking at the details on the box
on the front just here you can see that
drawn say it’s the number one brand
among doctors so I know that when myself
and my wife we’ve been to the doctors
with our little ones we’ve often seen
braun technology there so it’s quite
reassuring to know they’re buying a
really really big brand so on the side
just here it’s saying that it takes the
reading in seconds you’ve got nine
memories on there as well so you can
actually see the last nine temperatures
to see how the situation is progressing
you’ve got this new color-coded display
on here as well so a fever is different
temperatures for different ages so when
you’re in the red and you know that your
little one has has got a fever just
there as well so contents of the box
you’ve got your Braun thermal scan
thermometer you’ve got protective case
you’ve got some disposable lens filters
21 of those and you get two drawers cell
batteries in there as well so let’s open
it up and have a look I’ve obviously
already opens it once I’ve put it back
as best focus so here is the main unit
really nice we’re gonna come back to

the disposable lens caps so it’s a
storage unit few disposable Lynx caps as

worked really well so my wife was first
one to open this and she quickly looked
at the QuickStart guide and she was away
it is really really easy so let’s have a
little look at the unit and how it works
so first of all it just feels really
solid in your hands it’s got kind of a
kind of satin feel but it feels really
solid the plastic feels really good
quality just there so got your own
button just here so let’s turn it on and
it’s loading and whilst it’s loading
it’s actually warming up the tip as well
just to make sure that the the tip is
warm so it’s a bit more comfortable for
little one and on top of that as well
give you more an accurate reading as
well so it’s flashing here it wants us
just to select how old the person is so
we’re taking the reading from so once
you’ve selected you literally just press
the button up there and it’s really
Okinawa kever ething is within reach of
your thumb just here so press the button
it’s going to take the reading obviously
no reading now there’s no air presence
pressing this button just here this
would cycle through the last nine
temperatures taken and it automatically
stores those as well which is great once
we’ve finished with the lens we just
literally press the trigger here and
that comes off and now we’re ready to
place another one on there so this is a
display just here so this will change
from green amber or red depending on
whether there is a fever presence in one
or not I did say as well that we had one
of the older models so this is the older
model just for comparison so this is the
old thermal scan that we’re big fans off
it’s just disappointing that it did go
wrong but didn’t put a soft go in front
of the broad so you can see there it is
a little little bit smaller just a tad
but what you can
see is the difference in the screen size
just here the new model has much much
better screen it’s bigger it’s a lot
clearer as well so let’s take a look at
it in action it’s okay if I take your
temperature severe yeah okay so I’m
going to take it out off the box we’re
going to turn it on it’s already the
next thing we need to do is select the
age how old are you again severe five so
we’re gonna select 36 plus and then this
button just here to take the the reading
and I press the button and I’ve got the
reading already so we’ve got 37.6 in the
green so what do you think this is the

This is a nice thermometer with an easy-to-use interface. I’m not sure how accurate it is because I have another thermometer for the ear, and every time we try both, we get different readings… who knows which is more accurate? But I like this the best because when a child has a fever, it may not be as accurate as an old-fashioned thermometer, but it does the job of alerting you that there IS a fever, and it is not stressful to the children. When you have a grumpy sick child, even the in-ear one is a bit much.

I’ve been using Braun Thermoscans for many years (both at home and at work) and have never had any issues with them. I ordered this one and just got it. I discovered that the degrees are C, not F. When I ordered it, it was not stated anywhere in the description. I would not have purchased it if it had stated that. My options now are to send it back or figure out how to convert the numbers to degrees Fahrenheit.
As a pediatric nurse, these thermometers are my go-to for baby shower gifts. This thermometer works much better and faster than any oral or axillary thermometer. I dislike and distrust temperal scans. To get a proper reading with this one, you must ensure that you have it in correctly. If in doubt, repeat the process two or three times and take the highest number! It’s short enough that the kids can sleep through it. I only gave it four stars because I believe the usage instructions could benefit from pictures or quick steps for new parents.
