to show you how to set up your TP 65 you
will need your batteries your indoor
base station and your outdoor sensor to
remove the battery of the outdoor sensor
pull the latch up and remove to remove
the battery cover of your indoor sensor
squeeze the latch and pull up you will
then need to put the batteries into your
indoor base station attaching the cover
after the batteries are intact
once the base station powers on place

the battery cover by snapping the latch

now that you are all set up it’s time to

My ThermoPro TP60 replaces a similar device from another manufacturer that I received about ten years ago as a gift. The old unit washed itself in the kitchen sink. The old device may have still worked, but replacing the batteries was always a hassle because the entire unit had to be re-paired and re-programmed. Furthermore, whenever anyone touched it, its built-in alarm would sound.
I go to such lengths to describe the old one because, in comparison, the Thermopro is light years ahead. It automatically pairs. Its settings are straightforward, and it includes an outdoor relative humidity reading. The dial is simple to read. The radio signal easily penetrates the outside wall for a location (in my case) approximately 20 feet from the transmitter.
The only thing I feel is lacking is a push-button back-light to see the read-out in low-light situations.
I’m a physicist with a new zone in my forced-air heating system and a piano that requires constant room humidity, preferably around 42%. I purchased three of these monitors to evaluate these conditions. The first thing I did was place them in an airtight, transparent container with three other humidity monitors that I had been calibrating for years. I placed the container near the room thermostat and took 8 readings over the course of 30 hours. I opened the container twice to let in fresh air with a higher humidity level. Here’s what I discovered:
1. Each time I opened the container, the readings stabilized within an hour or two.
2. The three new monitors agreed to within 0.5 °F of each other and with the thermostat reading. This is more than adequate for evaluating the temperature uniformity in the various rooms of my new heating zone.
3. Their humidity readings were within one percent RH of each other. That’s fantastic – but it could be incorrect.
4. After carefully calibrating the other humidity meters and comparing the humidity readings, I concluded that the humidity readings of these new monitors are about 2% higher than the true humidity – at about 42 percent RH. That’s fantastic.
As a result, I can conclude scientifically that I am pleased with this purchase!
The TP65 was ordered to replace the remote transmitter on our LaCross weather station. That unit stopped working after at least 15 years of use outside. The TP65 is less expensive than a replacement LaCross transmitter and reports the same two functions: temperature and relative humidity.
I set it up according to the owner’s manual’s instructions, which said to put the batteries in the remote sensor first, then in the base station. Okay, but I didn’t get a response from the remote. I tried every suggestion in the manual, but nothing worked. It was extremely aggravating. It was 7 p.m. on a Friday night at this point. I noticed that customer service was available until 8 p.m.So I dialed and was immediately connected to a man who knew exactly what the problem was. He instructed me to remove all of the batteries from the units and reinstall them in the base station first, then the remote, exactly the opposite of what the manual instructed. While I was still on the phone, it began working immediately. According to the customer service representative, the manual is written for situations involving multiple sensors. So, wouldn’t it be better for the customer if that was made clear in the owner’s manual?
For the past 48 hours, the unit has been running flawlessly. What pleases me is that the indoor and outdoor temperature readings are consistent with all of our other thermometers, including a US Navy mercury thermometer outside. All three other thermometer readings are within one degree of each other, and are frequently identical. I can’t ask for anything more. I would suggest the TP65.
