avoiding movement of the arm or probe
walking segments appear indicating that
measurement is in progress
prolonged exposure of the axilla to
ambient air can cause inaccurate
readings you should also keep the probe
tip from contacting electrodes wires
tape or clothing when the final axillary
temperature has been reached in about 10
to 13 seconds for pediatric patients and
12 to 15 seconds for adults the unit
beeps and the temperature displays
remove the probe from the patient’s

to reduce cross contamination wear
gloves and cover the probe handle with
your gloved hand while taking a rectal
temperature insert the probe into a
probe cover and apply a thin coat of
lubricant to the probe tip if desired
gently insert the probe no more than 1.5
centimeters or 5/8 of an inch inside the
rectum less for infants and children
hold the probe in place throughout the

cord with an approved disinfectant if
you suspect that the probe well is
contaminated remove it and then
disinfect or replace it
most of the temperatures you take will
be in predictive mode however you may
sometimes have difficulty getting a
reading if so use monitor mode which
measures and displays the temperature
for as long as the probe remains in
place monitor mode measurement begins
the same way as predictive mode use the
correct probe and probe well blue for
oral and axillary temperatures red for
rectal insert the probe into a well gel
and probe cover and select the desired
mode place the probe in the patient site
following the directions mentioned
earlier in this program hold the probe
in place during the entire temperature
measurement when a final predictive
temperature has been reached the unit
beeps and the temperature displays hold
the probe in position and press and hold
the mode selection button until the
monitor mode indicator appears keep the
probe in place for the required amount
of time for the selected patient site
continuous monitoring beyond three to

measurement the thermometer will not
beep to indicate a final temperature it
is important to note the temperature
before removing the probe from the
patient site and ejecting the probe
cover the temperature reading for a
monitor mode measurement is not
maintained in memory and cannot be
recalled with the recall button once the
probe is placed back in the well the

Welch Allyn Thermometer Guide
The thermometers from Welch Allyn offer an unprecedented combination of accuracy, power, and reliability. The Pro 6000 series is the most thermally versatile model, offering precision temperatures up to two hundred thirty degrees F. A flexible mounting frame with smooth spring operation keeps even the most sensitive instruments from getting hot during use. Built in hygrometers provide accurate temperature measurement and can be easily read from a distance. High resistance copper spring provides reliable, long-lasting operation and an easy operation button makes it easy to operate. A quality, precision engineered all metal body and precision engineering throughout the body provide optimal conductivity, thermometer efficiency and thermal expansion. The thermometer temporal unit allows temperature ranging from zero to six hundred degrees Fahrenheit and can be calibrated for use in any environment, including residential as well as commercial applications. A precision engineered precision quartz slew system provides precise temperature control and exceptional accuracy.
One thing that is most beneficial about these models is that they are able to pick up any type of reading that is being given. This is different than the older style of thermal monitor that only was able to pick up certain kinds of readings. These newer monitors are able to pick up a variety of different readings and can also be adjusted in order to make sure that the temperature is even throughout the whole area that is being measured. Many people like to know that the thermometer they are using is able to pick up the right temperature for the particular area that they need to know about. The newer models are also made so that they do not take up nearly as much space as the older ones did. Anyone who is interested in purchasing a Welch Allyn ThermoFit Product should make sure that they are checking out the many options that they have. There are many places that sell them on the Internet, including both local retailers and those that are not commonly known places. People who are looking to get a good deal on a ThermoFIT should make sure to shop around a bit and compare prices between different companies. They should look to see if they are able to find the best price for what they need to purchase. If they are able to get the best deal, they will more than likely be able to get the best warranty possible as well. Anyone who has one of these models will be happy that they decided to invest in one in order to keep their home or business fully operational.
The oral probe of a Welch Allyn electronic thermometer comes with an easy to read LED screen that is illuminated when the probe is placed over the temperature area of the thermometer. The thermometers can be used for a variety of different applications where liquids are used such as: medicine, ointments, lotions, foods and beverages, etc. The electronic thermometers have been designed specifically for ease of use and maximum performance. They have been extensively tested and certified to be safe for daily or heavy duty applications. Most Welch Allyn products are covered by a limited warranty which enables customers to obtain replacement products free of charge within a specific period of time. There are several different sizes available to accompany the various thermometers manufactured by Welch Allyn. Some models are made to measure the pressure of a single cup whereas others are available in both high and low pressure versions. The oral probe of a Welch Allyn digital rectal thermometer comes with covers which allow for easy access and maintenance. They also come with instructional guides to ensure that users can accurately measure and use their product.
When purchasing a digital thermometer, it’s important that you pay special attention to its features. An accurate thermal probe will also allow you to pinpoint exactly where in a certain area the temperature is, so that you can precisely place the probe cover to catch exactly what you’re measuring!
A new product that has been recently introduced in the market by the company is the disposable oral probe thermometers. Unlike the prior models of the Allyn thermometers, these new ones provide an improved thermal expansion value. Excellent, precise product. Probe sleeves are required for proper operation.
While it is pricey, and you must purchase replacement disposable probe covers, it is an excellent thermometer. As a parent, it’s critical to know when to give your child a day off and hydration and when to take them to the emergency room. Very simple to use and read.
For a little more than a year, I had this model unit in my home for personal use. It was of little use because there was no need for it. The CoronaVirus then became a pandemic, and my family was confident that we had a good/reliable piece of equipment to monitor our temperature. I changed the batteries so it was ready, turned it on, and received a long beep with Code E4.8. I dialed the Welch Allyn Customer Service number listed in the user manual and spoke with one of their representatives. When I revealed the code, the CS Rep stated that the unit was out of calibration and needed to be replaced. She then proceeded to tell me that a replacement unit would cost $182.00, which they didn’t have in stock due to COVID19. Why would I pay that much for another unit that might eventually self-destruct? Customer Service provided no alternatives and refused to work with me to repair the broken unit.
