Pros and cons of ProBasics wheelchair
- ProBasics K0004 Ultra Lightweight Wheelchair: This chair offers more options than expected in its price range, and it comes with a lifetime warranty on the frame, which speaks to its overall quality.
- ProBasics K3 Wheelchair: The main selling point of this chair is its price. It has all the basics covered, and its features are competently implemented, but it doesn’t offer any standout features.
- ProBasics Transport Rollator: This rollator offers adjustability and comfort, as well as on-board storage and extras. However, it is only useful on smooth surfaces, and there is a slight learning curve and minimal assembly required.
- ProBasics Standard Reclining Wheelchair: This chair has a maximum load capacity of 400 pounds and features a slide tube steel frame for maximum durability. However, it may not be the best option for users who need more advanced features.
- ProBasics Aluminum Transport Wheelchair: This chair has a 19-inch seat and is foldable for easy transport and storage. It also has 12-inch rear wheels for a smoother ride and a 300-pound weight capacity. However, some users report difficulty with the quick-release wheels.
- ProBasics Reclining Manual Wheelchair: This chair provides full back and headrest support and allows users to recline from 90 to 160 degrees. The headrest and padded full-length arms are removable, and the vinyl upholstery is easy to clean. However, it may not be the best option for users who need power recline or other advanced features.
- ProBasics K1 Lightweight Manual Wheelchair: This chair combines style and durability at an affordable price, and it supports patient weights up to 250 pounds. Standard features include a dual axle, comfortable nylon upholstery, padded armrests, chart pocket, and front riggings. However, it may not be the best option for users who need more advanced features or higher weight capacities.
Overall, ProBasics wheelchairs appear to offer good value for the price, but they may not be the best option for users who need more advanced features or higher weight capacities. It is important to carefully consider your specific needs and do research to find the best wheelchair for you.
ProBasics Wheelchair Guide
The ProBASICS transformer wheelchair has a standard platform with four-wheel drives. Although this wheelchair is able to be transported by a single person, it is recommended that a passenger is added to the equation for greater safety and security. Although there are several designs that provide a platform for two people, most of the models will not support the weight of more than one person. One of the unique features of the ProBASICS transformer wheelchair is the fact that it can be easily retrofitted to accommodate a second rider, which will allow each rider to have their own personal controls. The ProBASICS transformer has an extremely lightweight aluminum frame with an automatic electric start. The lightweight aluminum frame provides a stable foundation for the motorized wheelchair, while the battery pack, control panels and rear wheels are all powered by the owner’s rechargeable NiCad batteries. This allows the wheelchair to run on a charge for up to four hours, making it extremely functional for transporting a disabled or handicapped person.
Probasics have always been a leader in the wheelchair market and are renowned for their innovative designs and easy to use features. They are not only built to be user friendly, but designed to give maximum comfort to the wheelchair bound. Some of their features include built-in cup holders, an air-filled bladder to prevent gas bubbles from forming and a deluxe ergonomic seat that moulds itself to your back and enhances your comfort. Many experts will claim that even a lightweight wheelchair should offer good support and comfort, but if you are looking for something easy to use and sturdy then the Probasics Deluxe is the one for you. Even though it is considered a folding wheelchair, it offers all the same features as a traditional model, including an air-filled bladder, ergonomic seat and easy to use adjustment levers. All the user needs to do to get started is to simply place his/her hands behind the handlebars.
The ProBASICS full reclining wheelchair features three removable desktop attachments for comfort and added mobility. The seat can be easily adjusted with a push of a button using the convenient remote control, and there are two separate bucket seats with removable desk-length extensions. The proboscis full reclining wheelchair has a unique, wide-spaced center platform with one, dual-leg stool, and an optional extended headrest extension for added comfort. There is also a special folding wheelchair ramp that can be attached to the chair for easy storage. Extra comfort is also provided by the ProBASICS adjustable armrest extension, which can be expanded or retracted to provide the user with additional comfort during extended stretches of sitting. The thick cushioning and shock absorbing qualities of proboscis reclining wheelchairs are also optimized for maximum comfort and support. These wheelchairs are available in three sizes, twenty-five to thirty pounds, and are equipped with fully hydraulic and manual-assisted braking systems. They are made by top manufacturers such as Omega, Stannah, and Schwinn, and are well-known throughout the country for their durability, comfort, and value.
The ProBASICS transport wheelchair conversion is suitable for most vehicles with a manual wheel size or a power wheel size and comes with a variety of alternatives to suit your individual requirements. The front and rear bumpers are designed to securely hold the wheelchair passengers in place whilst the vehicle is being transported, and can be adjusted up or down to ensure the right amount of tyre grip is provided to prevent the tyres from slipping or losing traction. Alternatively, a remote controlled lowering platform can be mounted in the bed of the vehicle to lower the rear of the disabled person out of the vehicle. Wheelchair lifts can be fitted into the minivan for easy storage, and the ProBASICS lightweight folding campers are extremely light, and can easily be folded up for storage during long trips. Ideal for disabled divers, ProBASICS transport wheelchair comes equipped with a fold up ramp for easy entry and exit. The rear fold up ramp is also fitted with locking system to ensure that the ramp cannot be lifted or opened without the keys. All ProBASICS wheelchairs come standard with two air cushioned seats which are designed to cater for the unique needs of a wheelchair passenger. The seats are fitted with side and rear head restraints for added safety and comfort.

It’s a bit on the thick side. I used it to transport my husband to and from doctors’ offices. It’s more convenient than a wheelchair because it’s smaller, so it’ll suffice. It’s also easier to get him around the house because it’s smaller than a wheelchair.
First and foremost, let me say that it is a relatively good wheelchair; it is reasonably comfortable. However, I believe that the seat depth should be 18″ instead of 16″; the width is 20″ and that was sufficient for me. The color is lovely, and it rolls easily.
1. Due to the right brake being completely knocked out of its proper position, both brakes were misaligned, and the paint had been scratched.
2.The rigging is not flexible, which can be inconvenient if you have long legs.
The chair is adequate, but the consistency could be improved. I don’t like how the chair’s handels are offset. In small houses, this makes it difficult to switch. Straight handels would be preferable. I really don’t like how the front wheels are positioned on the chair frame’s outside. Increases the width of the chair, making it easier to scrape door jambs. The wheels should have been inside or ahead of the frame. The 17″ between the armrests is very thin, and I wish they had a larger model.
